Moving on… | PLOS Opens

"Three years ago I wrote a blog post talking about leaving academia and making the next logical move to work here at PLOS. The time has come for me to make the next move. I’ll be leaving PLOS at the end of May.
It has been an immense privilege to work here and I’m proud of what my team, the organisation and our partners have achieved. The Advocacy Team helped run the ASAP awards, release the HowOpenIsIt? Open Access Spectrum, see Californian Public Access legislation enacted, as well as commissioning new tools and building communities working on implementing an Open Access future. Laying the groundwork for future change; developing language and arguments, and working behind the scenes on projects that will continue to have effects over the next several years.

My post is being replaced and the search is on to find the right person to take the Advocacy team into the next phase of work. If you have a strong background in supporting the development of open and innovative approaches to transform scholarly communication, are an outstanding communicator and have a strong strategic view of the changes coming this may be the job for you. And you get to work with one of the best teams in the industry with a true mission driven focus. It’s a rare opportunity.
Which raises the inevitable question. Why am I therefore leaving? ..."
