PROPERTY DUALISM FOR RENT: VACANCY IS IN CAUSAL EXPLANATION, NOT IN ONTIC SPECULATION OR BELIEF

With feeling, unlike with liquidity and life, there is no explanation. And, worse, there are strong reasons to think that not only is feeling causally superfluous for organisms' cognitive and behavioral function, but that feeling could not play an independent causal role unless there existed an extra elementary force, rather like gravitation or electromagnetism, to allow doings to be caused by feelings, rather than just by the functions correlated with (and perhaps mysteriously causing) feelings -- because there is no elementary "telekinetic" force.
