OSTP: CHORUS Is an Even Worse Threat to OA than Finch

Amsciforum 2013-07-20

Summary:

We can live with 12-month embargoes for now, because there is a way around them (the IDOA mandate and the Button), but if OSTP accepts the CHORUS "offer" it will not only lock in 12-month OA embargoes  for years to come, but it will also take the power and incentive to provide OA out of the hands of researchers and right back into the hands of publishers (with the guileless collusion of librarians).
(Hats off to the publishers for their relentlessness and resourcefulness in protecting their interests, but please let's match and double it with our own!)
