IASSIST AFRICA REGIONAL WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT DATE: 21st to 23rd October 2020 Venue: College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
The East African School of Library and Information sciences in conjunction with the College of Computing and Information Science and Association of Parliamentary Libraries for Eastern and Southern Africa is delighted to announce the First International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST) African Regional Workshop at Makerere University.
The theme of this workshop is: Data Literacy as a catalyst for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Data literacy refers to the ability to read, work with, analyse and manipulate data. In this workshop, data literacy is aligned to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since application and utilization of quality data significantly contributes to the attainment of the SDGs.
We therefore welcome research papers, posters and related presentations focusing on the different strategies that can be applied in using data to achieve the SDGs. We invite researchers, practitioners, academia, students, knowledge and information managers, statisticians, digital curators, and information and communication related professionals who are interested in furthering the state of data literacy within their communities to submit short papers .
