Lobby Day: January 15, 2013

Poweshiek CARES 2013-03-15

Summary:

Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI) has organized an opportunity for Iowas to meet with legislators and other state officials on Tuesday, January 15, on the occasion of Governor Branstad's “Condition of the state” message to the legislature. We propose to take this opportunity to discuss hog factories. Joyce Otto writes:

Poweshiek CARES has eighteen people getting on the CCI bus at Super 8 on January 15th at 8AM (return at 5PM)—we want more to attend!

It is obvious that Iowa citizens are going to the capital for different reasons. For me, I am very excited to meet with the Agriculture Committee Chairmen. This is an opportunity for us to be heard. If nothing else, we will meet them and get their card, giving us opportunities to email/call/write to them later.

Also, in the afternoon we will again have the chance to stand up and speak our minds with the EPC regarding the ABI rule.

If you are sitting on the fence about coming on Tuesday, don't miss this chance! I promise that your presence matters. I can also promise that you will meet some great people who will inspire your passions. And lastly, I promise you will learn-that is what life is offering, so live! Take advantage of this opportunity.

I know that several of you are not able to physically spend the day with us, but will be with us in thought. Your supportive thoughts are very helpful—thanks!

If you'd like to join the group going to Des Moines for Lobby Day, send Joyce an e-mail.
