Sports Continue to Tiptoe Away from Cable Monopolies

Summary:
Interesting piece on Techdirt about how the NBA is joining other major US professional sports leagues in moving away from an "all our viewers are cable subscribers" world. As more and more people cut the cord (or try to, if they're unfortunate enough to be Comcast customers) it's interesting to see whether sports will lead or follow. A lot of people have cable all or mostly in order to be able to watch live sporting events; once they're able to do that through other devices they may decide they don't need that fat cable bill anymore.
