Grinnell College Will Welcome More Than 1,100 Alumni to Campus for Reunion Weekend

More than 1,100 Grinnell College alumni, friends and family will return to campus for the 134th Alumni Reunion Weekend, May 30-June 2, travelling from as far as Uganda, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia to enjoy a full weekend of programming.
Alumni College, which begins Wednesday, May 29, gives former students a chance to return to the classroom with courses on various types of revolution. Alumni College courses will be taught by William Ferguson '75, economics; Sarah Purcell '92, history; Tim Dobe, religious studies, and Shuchi Kapila, English; David Harrison, French; and Janet Davis, computer science.
Paula Smith, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, will present the annual faculty lecture, "Academics and the Grinnell Curriculum," at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1, in Alumni Recitation Hall, Room 302.
Alumni Awards for service to professions, the college, and community will be presented to 10 honored members of reunion classes on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Herrick Chapel.
Other weekend highlights include music by alumni bands, the traditional bakery run and tours of new campus buildings. A Saturday morning riding tour will include stops at the Iowa Transportation Museum and the Drake Library, and there will be two walking tours of downtown throughout the weekend.
