Grinnell College will welcome back New York City's Metropolitan Opera for the 2013-14 season.

The fall semester will include four "Live in HD" performances at the Harris Center Cinema on the Grinnell campus. Shows start Saturdays at noon. Half an hour before each performance, at 11:30 a.m., a Grinnell College faculty or staff member will introduce that day's opera and give a talk about an interesting aspect of the work. At intermission, gourmet desserts and snacks will be served.

The Met Live screenings are open to all, and tickets are required. (See "Ticket Information," below.)

This fall's "Live in HD" series will feature:      • October 5: Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin -- an acclaimed new production of the great romantic tragedy      • October 26: Shostakovich's The Nose – a shocking, unconventional opera about a beleaguered Russian official and his runaway nose      • November 9: Puccini's Tosca—a sweeping tale of murder, lust and political intrigue      • December 14: Verdi's Falstaff – an eye-catching production of the composer's brilliant final masterpiece
