Grinnell, Iowa – In a fall schedule filled with European tour dates, the Kenny Garrett Quintet will perform on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Herrick Chapel at Grinnell College. The performance is the group's only American concert this fall.

Kenny Garrett is a Grammy Award-winning, post-bop jazz saxophonist and flautist. Over the course of a stellar career that has spanned more than 30 years, he has become the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation. After playing with The Duke Ellington Orchestra in his youth, he went on to collaborate with some of the greats: Herbie Hancock '60, Art Blakey, Marcus Miller, Woody Shaw and Miles Davis.

Garrett has always brought a vigorous yet melodic, and truly distinctive, alto saxophone sound to each musical situation. As a bandleader for the last two decades, he has also continually grown as a composer.
