The Fashion and Style Behind Boca’s September/October Cover – Boca Raton

It’s not an everyday occurrence that we get asked to be photographed in the editorial pages of a magazine, let alone make it on the cover. When I and my fellow inspiring cover girls Christine DiRocco and Andrea Virgin found out that we were on the cover of the current issue of Boca magazine showcasing Boca’s first-ever charity register, it was the biggest, most unexpected surprise.  Truthfully speaking, spending the day together at historic landmark The Addison and getting all dressed up with makeup and hair professionally done was special enough. As DiRocco shares, “My favorite part of being in the photo shoot was the connection with the entire team. It started with hair and make-up, everything felt very special and sparkly. It was a very jubilant day, everyone was having fun, happy to be there and very appreciative of the moment. It was certainly not a typical day for me, but it was very fun, decadent and splendid to spend the day with these wonderful people.” Not only did we have the best day at the photo shoot, but we also quickly found out how in sync we were without even knowing it. Boca magazine Art Director, Lori Pierino, entrusted each one of us to select our dresses to showcase an occasion—the ladies’ luncheon, the cocktail party and the gala. Our fittings were separate, but our dresses indicated otherwise. Each one of us gravitated toward bold one-color dresses featuring beautiful embellishments, ruffles and feminine details.  Virgin, who showcases the cocktail look in a vibrant burnt orange Alexander McQueen dress from Neiman Marcus says, “The dress was perfection in every way. I absolutely loved all the different details: the largely ruffled off-the-shoulder top, the pockets, the unexpected slit up the center. It was the perfect classic but unexpected dress.” As for DiRocco in an elegant luncheon look, she picked the fuchsia stunner from Nina Raynor because of the “fun, swingy silhouette. I love a billowy, full-skirted dress with lots of movement. It’s just festive and I am all about a great twirl on my way to an event! Plus, it’s just a happy color.” As for me, Nina Raynor has no shortage of stunning dresses fit for any gala, but when I slipped on the turquoise bonded jersey dress with cascading flowers, it felt elegant and fresh, yet comfortable.  The cover of us jumping and sharing a good laugh encapsulates an authentic energy that we felt on a scorching hot Florida summer day. Social season certainly appears to be well underway, but it also feels more intentional and ebullient. Last week, while attending the grand opening of new restaurant Sixty Vines and the ever-popular Boca Ballroom Battle, there was a different air in the room—an atmosphere of gratitude. Grateful that in-person events are back in full swing and human connections are stronger than ever. As individuals, we need to connect on a personal level and united as a whole. Our impact on the greater good of our community knows no limits.
