Summer is on the way out and Interscholastic League soccer season is in full swing as we enter the third full week of September.   There have been a handful of showdown matchups already throughout the boys and girls ranks. North Kingstown’s boys laid down an early marker in Division I with a 3-1 win at La Salle. Pilgrim’s girls flexed their muscles in Division I with victories over East Greenwich and South Kingstown.  More:Meet Rhode Island’s top football players away from the field The Skippers and Patriots are just two of more than 80 teams in action this fall. These lists cover matches from Sept. 12-18. There will be much more to come and we want your input.  More voting:Who should be the Player of the Week for Week 2? Coaches and athletic directors can promote their players and give us an assist with a call or a quick note. It’s much appreciated. Let’s go to the week’s honorees.  North Kingstown  Van Gorden is in sizzling goal-scoring form with the defending Division I champions to begin the season. She netted a hat trick in a Monday win over Mt. Hope and came back with two goals in a Wednesday victory against Smithfield.   Pilgrim  Coffie collected a hat trick in Monday’s 3-0 shutout of East Greenwich. Her third goal was the best of the bunch — a right-footed volley off a pinpoint cross from Dasani Stewart. The Patriots are in capable hands with Coffie leading the way.  Moses Brown  Leiva was both timely and prolific for the Quakers last week. She notched a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Burrillville and piled up two goals and three assists in a cruise past Lincoln School.  Last week in high school sports:HERE ARE FRIDAY’S HIGH SCHOOL RESULTS AND SATURDAY’S SCHEDULE Mt. Hope  Jackson popped for four goals and an assist in a 6-0 shutout of rival Barrington. She added another goal in a 3-2 rally past Chariho, as the Huskies erased a 2-1 deficit in the second half.   Central Falls  Gutierrez was the difference as the Warriors secured a 4-1 win over Mount Pleasant. She collected a hat trick against the Kilties and helped Central Falls to a 2-1 start in Division IV.  North Kingstown  Goba  converted a pair of penalty kicks in a 3-1 win over La Salle. The Skippers captured this rematch of last year’s Division I title meeting — they’d like the same result in November.  Senior standouts:Connor Froberg is focused on a North Kingstown soccer title this fall Bishop Hendricken  Paquette led a balanced attack for the Hawks in a 6-3 win over Central Falls. He was one of five players to find the back of the net for the winners, scoring twice.  North Smithfield  A hat trick wasn’t enough for Nieves against Cranston East. The Northmen striker totaled four goals in the 6-0 shutout of the Thunderbolts, a career day leading last season’s Division II runner-up.  Las t week in high school sports:Here are Tuesday’s RI high school scores and Wednesday’s schedule Tiverton  Nobrega accounted for the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Narragansett. That was a rematch of last year’s Division III title encounter — the Tigers prevailed against the Mariners via penalty kicks.  Pilgrim  The Patriots prevailed in a seven-goal thriller with the Wizards, and Annunziata made a key contribution. His pair of goals helped make the difference in a 4-3 victory.  bkoch@providencejournal.com      On Twitter: @BillKoch25
