Refrigerator Sending Spam Messages?

Coming barely weeks after my essay on the security risks from embedded systems, the Proofpoint report of a span-sending refrigerator was just too good to be true. I was skeptical, so I didn't blog it. Now Ars Technica has a good analysis of the report, and is also skeptical. In any case: it could happen, and sooner or later it will.
