On November 3, 2023, ARL joined the Open Access Working Group in a asking the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to oppose Section 552 of the House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies appropriations bill (H.R.5893), which would prohibit funds from being used to implement the 2022 OSTP Memorandum on Ensuring Free Immediate and Equitable Access to Federally Funded Research.
