PRX Hangs up the Shorts

Hi friend of PRX,

Summer gone already? The school buses ruined the morning commute. Co-workers with that last weekend tan of the year-look groggily attended the staff meeting. The Fall catalogs came Saturday full of fleece. It’s enough to make you a fan of global warming. Too early, we say!

Happy Halloween. ;-( -John

Diplomacy and War

Various perspectives

  • Backstory gives us the history on ethics in warfare. Updated to reflect the conflict in Syria.
  • The Air Force practice-flies its premier attack drone over upstate New York.
  • NPR’s Kelly McEvers’ intimate portrait of the sacrifices war correspondents and their families make.

Reality Radio

Meet AIR and Indies at PRPD

Be there! AIR has many events at the PRPD conference Sept. 17-19th, including a Mingle with former WBEZ Manager Torey Malatia and Snap Judgment’s Glynn Washington.

Check out the AIR event schedule.

Get ready with Reality Radio, a popular special on PRX from AIR that celebrates tales from some of public radio’s most venerated independent story-makers — Ira Glass, The Kitchen Sisters, and Jay Allison.

High Holy Days

Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur

  • From classical gems to raucous klezmer fiddling, superstar violinist Itzhak Perlman shares musical memories of the High Holy Days.
  • Stories Make the World is a doc celebrating the rich tradition of Jewish storytelling.
