5 Online Marketing Blogs Worthy of Your Eyeballs

Laboratory Blog 2013-06-19

The world wide web is full of online marketing blogs featuring so-called experts who each have their piece to say on what you should or shouldn’t be doing. For a novice in this industry it can all be incredibly confusing.

Who do you listen to? Who is making sense? Who’s just after your money?

If you’re not selective with who you listen to then you will always be chasing your tail.

Listen to all the online marketing blogs and you'll end up with a headache

Avoid the headaches. Find some favourites!

To quote a common expression: time = money. It is therefore beneficial that you limit your exposure to nonsensical ramblings and put your time to better use in continuing to develop your own online business.

As much as I appreciate your custom here – make sure you’re also a regular at these 5 online marketing blogs that are worthy of your eyeballs:

1. Quick Sprout

Quick Sprout was one of the first online marketing blogs I ever began listening to. Neil Patel’s words are clear, assertive and difficult to argue against.

Neil recently published a huge free 40,000 word Advanced Guide to Content Marketing on Quick Sprout which attracted 361,494 visitors and 8241 email opt-ins. This man knows what he’s doing. He is kind of a big deal — and he knows it!

2. Backlinko

Brian Dean’s unique approaches to link building really go down a treat with me on his Backlinko blog. Brian does not preach a gospel of common knowledge. Thinking outside the box and not overlooking the obvious are all part of his mantra.

Backlinko is not all about link love however! Follow up on my On Page SEO Tutorial with a look at Brian’s incredible Anatomy of a Perfectly Optimized Page (Infographic).

3. ProBlogger

I think Darren Rowse is pretty qualified to deliver tips that will help you make money whilst blogging. Amongst other projects Darren created the stupendously useful and successful Digital Photography School

You could do far worse than follow Darren’s monetization advice. Start with the Ultimate Guide to Making Money with the Amazon Affiliate Program and 31 Days to Building a Better Blog. That should keep you going for a while!

4. Search Engine Journal

For up to date search engine related news then the Search Engine Journal should be your first port of call. A collaboration of contributors who all for the most part otherwise host their own online marketing blogs gives much diversity to the content. Be warned however: it’s incredibly easy to become engrossed.

For a general introduction to the good advice on offer take a look at 55 Quick SEO Tips Even Your Mother Would Love.

5. ViperChill

I’ve actually only recently reacquainted myself with the teachings of Glen Allsopp from ViperChill. Starting out in the online marketing world at the tender age of 16 can’t have been easy; but Glen found his way to dizzy heights and should definitely not be ignored.

Glen consistently reveals superb information that so many others would rather you pay for. He’s also renowned for his long posts. Get your teeth into The Future of Blogging: I Had To Tell You This if you’re sitting comfortably.

In between browsing these blogs and doing my own work I’ll also give an honorable mention to Wealthy Affiliate where I spend a lot of my time. It’s not an online marketing blog per se but more so an online marketing community. I’m yet to find anywhere else on the world wide web in this niche that is as straight up and honest as what I find there.

Who have I missed? Which online marketing blogs are you addicted to? I want to know your favourites!
