African lion ( Panthera leo )

In Ghana's Mole National Park, the lion population has declined by over 90% in 40 years. This is thought to be due to people killing lions in retaliation to human-lion conflict.

African Forest elephants ( Loxodonta africana cyclotis )

The forest elephant's population size declined by more than 60 per cent between 2002 and 2011, mostly because of increasing rates of poaching for ivory. Thanks to habitat loss they're now restricted to just 7% of their historic habitat.
