Liveblog in progress: Intel’s Developer Forum keynote

Ars Technica 2015-08-17

New processors don't really generate the excitement they once did, but processors based on Intel's new Skylake architecture are still going to ship in tens of millions of computers before the end of the year. They'll continue to subtly improve battery life and performance, and they'll come with a handful of interesting new features that may or may not convince you that it's time to upgrade.

We'll be at Intel's Developer Forum in San Francisco this week to bring you the news as it happens. We expect that Intel will spend time on the rest of the Skylake lineup (we already have some high-end quad-core chips and we've seen a glimpse of the Ultrabook lineup, as well as a couple other scraps), but things like the RealSense 3D cameras, the company's diversity initiatives, its mini PCs, and other projects could also make appearances.

The opening-day keynote gets started at 9am Pacific (12pm EDT, 5pm BST, 6pm CEST) Tuesday morning, and it's scheduled to run for an hour and a half. Ars Technology Editor Peter Bright and I will be on the ground to liveblog the event and cover the announcements, and we'll be doing more follow-ups in the following days. You can see when the fun gets started in your timezone below.
