Liveblog: Microsoft’s October Windows—and maybe even hardware—event

Microsoft will be giving the first real look at the next big update to Windows 10, codenamed Redstone 2, in New York at 10am EDT (3pm UK) on October 26, and we'll be there on the scene to liveblog all that unfolds.

We know that the next Windows 10 major update will include new features for virtual reality and augmented reality systems, and we imagine that Microsoft will continue to push its productivity angle. But beyond that, the big ticket items are something of a mystery; so far, the Insider Preview builds haven't given a whole lot away of what's coming.

More mysterious than that, though, is a long-rumored new piece of hardware: a Surface-branded all-in-one computer. A possible name, "Surface Studio," has emerged through trademark filings along with some Surface-grey peripherals, but so far, Redmond has done a good job of keeping any hard information about the hardware itself—if it exists—under lock and key.
