We are four Stanford students looking to improve academic publishing and we want to hear from you! - /r/AskAcademia

Summary:

"We are four students (incl. three MBAs and two PhDs), all of us fed up with academic publishing and embarking on a project to improve the process. But before we start building anything, we want to hear from as many scientists as possible. We'd love to hear your thoughts on what the biggest issues are."

...

"The main thing that I'd love to see more of is open / collaborative peer review. Either in the eLife way, where reviewers have to agree on the reviews sent to the authors, or at least like some other journals do where the reviews or decision letter are made public. I think these approaches can help avoid the problem of endless re-reviews and unreasonable requests from reviewers."
