Paths to Open Access: An update from Acta Materialia, Inc. - ScienceDirect

"The mission of Acta Materialia, Inc. is to help disseminate knowledge in materials science and engineering through the publication of archival scientific journals. As part of this mission, the Acta journals are pleased to offer authors Open Access (OA) options when they publish with our journals. OA is also clearly on the rise in our journals; for the three journals owned by Acta Materialia, Inc. and published by Elsevier, we published almost 100 Gold Open Access articles in 2016, increasing from only 15 in 2013. The fraction of OA articles is rising rapidly, and this increase is more than simply a mirror in the expansion of our overall publication rate."
