Summary:

"The aim of Open Research is to collect and make available the research data generated by research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) over the last ten years. The MIUR’s initiative has been presented in Rome at Forum PA 2017, the annual event dedicated to innovation in Public Administration.

The initiative, launched recently, is part of the measures for the efficiency and quality of expenditure included in the National Research Programme (PNR) 2015-2020, explained at the opening of the event Fabrizio Cobis, a Manager of the Directorate General for the Coordination and Development of Research (DGRIC) at the MIUR.

The idea of making available the research data generated by projects funded in the last ten years by the MIUR, with both national and EU funds, first of all responds to the need to account for the public money invested in such a strategic sector as that of research and innovation. 'This measure, however, is not just a transparency operation. If transparency is not associated with usability, the possibility to understand and analyze this data, it is not much use', said Fabrizio Cobis."
