Career Recognition for Open Science - Comments on EU recommendations

Amyluv's bookmarks 2017-10-01

Summary:

Two working groups appointed by the EU recently published recommendations related to embedding Open Science within research practice. These are `evaluation of research careers fully acknowledging open science practise` and `providing researchers with the skills and competencies they need to practise open science` The recommendations are very much appreciated. They frame Open Science in broad terms, and demonstrate that numerous threads (technical, staffing, rewards etc) that need to be knitted together to create a coherent, working Open Science environment. They set out how funders and universities should embed open science. Given the reflections here come out of a research data team here at TU Delft there is an inevitable focus on the data issues
