"Geodata is information about geography, flora and fauna, traffic or infrastructure. With the GIS browser ( maps.zh.ch ) it was already possible to visualize various geodata of the canton of Zurich in a map. Since the beginning of January 2018, 200 Zurich geobasis datasets can now be downloaded in various formats - free of charge and without registration. The canton authorities explained what this means for business and society at a media conference in mid-December 2017. Stefan Keller, Professor of Data Engineering and Informatics at HSR, was also there to give an impression of how research deals with open geodata. He recently gave us an exclusive interview on the subject."
