"Vienna (FWF) - science without payment barriers: "cOAlition S" is committed to realizing complete and immediate free access to research results.

A new initiative, developed jointly by a core group of European research funding organizations, Science Europe and the European Commission's Special Commissioner for Open Access, has taken a decisive step towards the realization of Open Access. On 4 September, the consortium cOAlition S launches a joint commitment that after 1 January 2020 research results from public funding of participating research funding organizations must be published in compliant open access journals or on compliant open access platforms. The initiative builds on Plan S, which was announced at the ESOF in Toulouse in July 2018."
