Representatives of five worldwide Open Access initiatives: the African Open Science Platform, the AmeLICA, the cOAlition S, the OA2020, and the SciELO, came together at the annual meeting of the Global Research Council which took place from 1 to 3 May 2019 in São Paulo, Brazil. At this occasion, they reaffirmed their commitment to open access to scientific publications by adopting a joint declaration.

The French National Research Agency (ANR) is a member of the cOAlition S which brings together several funding bodies to accelerate the transition to full and immediate access to publications issued following research financed by public funds, and supports the Plan S.
