"The internet is expanding the opportunities for publishing your research.  The readership for your research may be primarily other researchers in your field. However your reach may extend to researchers in interdisciplinary fields and to non-academic audiences.

Open access journals: Publishing channels are not restricted to subscription-only models. Thanks to the internet, quality journals now exist that make their content accessible via open access, i.e. research results are freely available to anyone with an internet connection.  Check on the norms for your discipline if considering this option...."
