"Last week we noted that January is always the cue for numerous blog posts reviewing every possible number or metric arising from the previous year’s activity. We kicked off this inevitable barrage of numbers last week by taking a peek at alternative metrics (using Altmetric). Alternative metrics are interesting but we, as a Team, have only a limited impact on whether a given output enjoys a healthy alternative impact. We have, however, a more meaningful impact on the components of the open science apparatus we actively work on.
