Summary:
Google English: "UNESCO is currently looking for comments on its forthcoming OER (Open Educational Resources) Recommendations . Recommendations will be issued to all member states and follow the action plan presented at the UNESCO World Congress for Open Learning Resources in Ljubljana in 2017.
Wikimedia Sweden contacted some of whom the association worked with in the past year with an interest in open learning resources. A group of enthusiasts with different skills gathered on May 21 to review UNESCO's draft and provide constructive feedback. As an open network of OER advocates based in Sweden, it is now time to submit our comments to UNESCO. These will be published by UNESCO together with many other groups' feedback on the document.
Five areas for implementation of OER
The recommendations have UNESCO grouped into five areas to provide guidance on how decision-makers, institutions and training actors should act.
Expand the ability to create, search and share OER
Develop promotion OER policy
Ensure inclusive and equal access to qualitative OER
Promote sustainable methods for OER
International cooperation.
Our feedback applies to those formulations where we wish UNESCO to further clarify what they mean and some additions within four of the listed areas. In target area four, about promoting sustainable OER methods, we were overall pleased with the UNESCO proposal. On the whole, it was noticeable that the recommendations in the draft raise a number of questions that we look forward to discussing with others in education in Sweden, not least in connection with UNESCO publishing the final version.
