"This 3-hour interactive workshop is aimed at newcomers to open education, although academic librarians, library staff, and administrators at all levels of OER experience are encouraged to attend. You’ll leave with an OER Toolkit and ideas for practical steps you can take, even if you’re short on time, staffing, and funding. We’ll explore why OER boost student success, what sets OER apart from other free-to-use course materials, how they fit into broader textbook affordability initiatives, and how to support student OER creation through open pedagogy. We’ll talk about some of the barriers to OER in higher education and – more importantly – ways to overcome those barriers.
