Fearing yet another witch hunt, Reddit bans ‘Pizzagate’ - The Washington Post

Citing its policy against posting the personal information of others, Reddit has banned the “Pizzagate” conspiracy board from the site. Pizzagate, a persistent and popular conspiracy theory that combines the Clinton diaspora with accusations of a secret pedophile ring, has been a steady force in the enclaves of the pro-Donald Trump Internet for the past few weeks.

The ban triggered a wave of criticism on r/The_Donald, the popular pro-Trump subreddit, from users who felt that the decision to ban the pizzagate board amounted to censorship. Reddit’s CEO Steve Huffman only heightened those fears among the conspiracy’s believers later on Wednesday, when he openly admitted to changing user comments on r/The_Donald that were critical of him to temporarily seem as if they were criticizing the moderators of the pro-Trump community.
