Summary:

The progress of science and the effective functioning of research in general relies on openness and the sharing of information. In the sciences, the rule really is 'the more free exchange, the better'.

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) supports this objective by offering a virtual environment with free, open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and reuse of research data, across borders and scientific disciplines. Under the EU-funded EOSC-hub project, researchers are creating the EOSC’s integration and management system.

This system – known as the hub – aggregates mature regional and national e-services in Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada and South America. It enables the EOSC to deliver a catalogue of services, software and data from major research e-infrastructures including the EGI Federation, EUDAT CDI and INDIGO-DataCloud.

It acts as a single access point for researchers and innovators to discover, use and reuse a broad range of resources for advanced, data-driven research. Users can find valuable services to support scientific discovery and collaboration.

The project is also helping to improve skills and knowledge among researchers and service operators. It is delivering specialised training courses and establishing competence centres to co-create solutions with users.
