Vale Emeritus Professor Anthony Stephens FAHA 1941 – 2023

Australian Academy of the Humanities 2023-12-18

Elected to the Academy in 1978, Tony was an outstanding German Studies scholar and an international Rilke authority. Professor of German first at Melbourne University and subsequently at the University of Sydney, he retired in 2004.

We extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
