Summary:

Press release by the SNMD-CGT (Syndicat National des Musées et Domaines)

In mid-March, after the Louvre’s board of directors, the Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais (RMN-GP) is expected to sign a new agreement to distribute photographic collections of the works held by the Louvre. In this convention, Article 8 stipulates a fallacious pretext "of opening public data". It is specified that the images will be free for scientific use worldwide, but above all free for all catalogs of exhibitions in Europe printed in less than 1,500 copies. Keeping in mind that this unilateral decision by the President of the Louvre to offer unconditional free access to all publishers in Europe is unfair, unfounded and harmful to the general interest and public service missions, the CGT-Culture and the SNMD-CGT request the Minister to oppose the signing of this agreement.
