Open Access is on the agenda – UKRD – R&D Leaders in the NHS

The NIHR is in the process of reviewing its new Open Access policy for peer reviewed research publications. The NIHR’s review comes hot on the heels of UKRI’s consultation on its Open Access policy, the consultation for which took place earlier in 2020.

On 1^st October 2020, UKRD was represented by Nick McNally at a strategic round table discussion on Open Access publishing and the health and social care system, a meeting which was hosted by Health Education England and the NIHR.

In the run up to that round table meeting some members of the UKRD community shared their views via survey on this extremely important topic. 14 research leaders responded to the survey which, given time pressure, was only open for four working days on survey monkey.
