RCIN, the Digital Repository of Research Institutes, established in 2010 as a result of an initiative by the institutes of the Polish Academy of Science. Its mission is to digitize and disseminate research resources as widely as possible.
RCIN is a continuation of activities started in 2008 under the name Digital Library of the Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The digital repository was established and is being developed mainly through two projects carried out by a group of Polish research institutes. Both projects are unded by the European Union and the Polish government. The RCIN project seeks to create a supra-regional and interdisciplinary digital repository composed of digital archival materials, scientific publications, research documentation and literary cultural heritage.
The OZwRCIN project focuses on open access, archiving and dissemination of public sector information. ZwRCIN is an open source project implemented as part of the RCIN platform, created through cooperation of 16 research institutes. It is funded by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the public budget.
