The Katz Tapes at Northeastern Archives and Special Collections

Interviews, mostly with musicians, conducted between 1980-2011 by journalist Larry Katz during his time at the Real Paper (Cambridge, MA) and the Boston Herald. This site includes transcripts of the interviews; the recordings can be heard at the Internet Archive. In 2020 Katz donated the recordings of his interviews to the Northeastern University Archives and Special Collections. This guide's version of the Katz Tapes Blog replicates the content of Larry Katz’s original site as much as possible with the notable exception that links to the newly digitized interviews have been added throughout.
