Depositing into Open Access Archives is one of the two ways (The other being publishing in open access journals) that can be employed by a researcher wishing to provide open access to their work. The adoption of this method involves submitting works desired to be openly accessible to an open access archive. In open access terminology, this is referred to as Green OA. This deposit process is also referred to as self archiving. What is an Open Access Archive (OAA)? The term  open access archives is used to refer to a digital repository designed and managed in compliance with open access policies and mandates.  A digital repository is an online archive in which authors can deposit their work, with the intention that it will be openly available in digital form. However, the term digital repository  or a trusted digital repository may also refer to an Open Archival Information System (OAIS) which is responsible for the long term maintenance of digital resources and for making these resources available to the public or a specified community of users. It is be noted that an OAA may or may be an OAIS.
