Helmholtz Open Access Workshop 2014

"The Helmholtz Open Science Coordination Office and the Central Library of the Research Center Jülich looking forward to the joint workshop 'Open Access - not everything that glitters is gold' to announce. The workshop will be held from 29 to 30.09.2014 at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. The Helmholtz Association is the first signatory of the published in 2003 'Berlin Declaration on Open Access to scientific knowledge.' The individual Helmholtz centers and the Helmholtz Association in total have since promoted the Open Access thoughts in many ways. Broad support of science organizations for the Open Access publishing is one of the factors that lead to a strong growth of the market for open access journals has led to funding by publication fees. Due to the growing interest of scientists of the Helmholtz Association in these journals to publish arises with new vigor the question of what conditions should also make the Helmholtz centers for the acquisition of publication fees and how it is possible to provide the necessary financial resources. priority theme of joint workshops are business models of open-access journals and framework for the 'golden road' to open access.
