Summary:

"... We’ve heard this quite a lot recently. We recognise the links between tenure and funding and where research is published. But you know what? It’s missing the point.   90% of the scientists that have ever lived are alive today.  This means that the exponential growth of worldwide research is going to continue and the chances of getting in to the niche group of top ranked journals is going to become less, not more. Academics and students today do their research online using keyword searches, which bypasses the journal title in the search results. What you need are EYEBALLS – people reading your peer-reviewed work. At Social Sciences Directory, we are proving that we can deliver that. Our first, peer-reviewed papers have received over 11,300 fulltext downloads in five months. This is a major achievement and demonstrates both the quality of the papers and the response to being able to access them without a subscription barrier.   We are a small, independent that publishes two multi-disciplinary journals and aims to bring open access benefits to scholars in the social sciences and arts & humanities.   Our articles are indexed with OCLC WorldCat, Ebsco Discovery Service, ProQuest, Serials Solutions, ExLibris and Google Scholar, and archived by the British Library.   We are always looking for new material, so if you have research or other valuable content (dissertations, essays, case studies, conference proceedings, reviews etc) we would be delighted to receive your submissions."
