"The federal government department had been publishing its science documents with InTech Open Access. The online publisher has been accused of being a predator publisher — a term used to describe outfits that will publish anything an author wants for a fee. Such operations then present the work as science research that has been properly and independently reviewed. A series of Citizen articles last fall revealed the Canadian connection. Health Canada’s food directorate had been publishing documents through InTech. The company says it charges 1,040 euros apiece, or more than $1,500. Health Canada has repeatedly declined to discuss the issue of payments ..."
