"The sharing and preservation of scientific data through public access to peer-reviewed publications and curated data sets advances science by promoting the scrutiny, validation, and creative reuse of research findings, which in turn promotes innovation and the commercial application of such findings, thereby enhancing U.S. economic development and competitiveness and maximizing the impact of research investments.
