Why Have Springer Teamed With CCC?

"At the end of last year, global rights-licensing technology organisation the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) announced it would be working with De Gruyter, the Institution of Civil Engineers Publishing and Maney Publishing as part of a move to make a more sustainable and scalable open access ecosystem for the publishing of academic research articles. According to Springer, they are the first publisher to take action, announcing a partnership with CCC to meet the licensing and permission needs of its customers.
