"After five years in operation the Health and Human Services Department's open data website got a refresh last week. The new HealthData.gov went live in "beta" May 28, reflecting that the HHS site is still very much a work in progress ... Davis said the process to build the new site began with the migration of its existing open data catalog to DKAN, a data platform based on the open source web content management system Drupal.  

DKAN is an open source project complementary to CKAN, or the Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network. Such platforms facilitate data sharing through a layer of software, policies and guidelines. Several government open data sites utilize CKAN, including Data.gov. Others have determined the Drupal-oriented DKAN platform – which was developed by NuCivic – Socrata or Junar are preferred platforms ..."
