"Today it’s been 5 years since we published the very first Comics Grid article: ‘Peanuts, 5 October 1950’, by Roberto Bartual (2011). The idea had been brewing for a while, and to reach the point to actually publish the first post (linked above, dated 31 January 2011) was already the result of a lot of collaborative work. I set up this blog in early April 2010. Since then the Grid has been through several iterations, always both outcomes and steps in a long-term work-in-progress. We’ve come from being an online co-laboratory, to calling ourselves a peer-edited blog, then a born-digital journal, publishing at neck-breaking speed peer-reviewed, peer-edited weekly short articles, to a proper, fully-fledged Gold Open Access journal, strictly following scholarly publishing best practices, both editorially and infrastructurally, and therefore taking considerably more time between articles to ensure we are publishing the best content possible ..."
