Odisha State Open University organizes National Workshop on Open Textbooks, Odisha Current News, Odisha Latest Headlines

"Minister of Higher Education, Dr. PradipPanigrahy inaugurated 3-day National workshop on ‘Technology for open text books’ organized by Odisha State Open University (OSOU)  here. Stressing on the need for open textbooks through technology, Dr. Panigrahy said, 'the next generation will be completely dependent on the internet for fulfilling its daily dose of news and information.'  Speaking on the occasion, OSD for Odisha State Open University, Dr. Srikant Mohapatra said that textbooks should reach every student. 'The biggest success for us would be to ensure that these textbooks reach the students at a minimum cost', he added. All the 15 open universities in the country participated in this three-day workshop organized with cooperation from Canada based ‘Commonwealth of Learning’. Moreover, open education resource and distance education were also discussed at the workshop. The newly established Odisha State Open University is the first such university in the state offering six different courses in the first year ..."
