Summary:

"There will be open access to scientific works soon. RGS will digitize and upload the electronic archive of books on geography.       As the head of RGS Research Library in St. Petersburg Svetlana Mangutova said on Wednesday, Russian Geographical Society (RGS) will digitize a few thousand books on geography and oceanography and will upload them on its website for public access in early 2014.       Personal library of July Shokalski will be digitized and published on the RGO website. Since Shokalsky was involved in oceanography, most of the books in his library situated in RGS's collections in St. Petersburg are associated with geography, oceanography and biology. Moreover, the full collection of editions issued under the RGS classification such as magazines, RGO reports and transactions, departments' transactions and 'Living Antiquity' ethnographic magazine will also be available for public viewing. Digitization of Shokalski’s library is already underway. These archives will be published on RGS website in the beginning of 2014."
