Summary:

"The White House has released more than 3.42 million digital records to the public since the 2009 start of its open data initiative following the Dec. 27 release of the White House’s visitor records for September 2013, Fedscoop reported Friday. Scott Maucione writes the White House reached that number one month after a Dec. 1 deadline that required agencies to provide a list of their public data to the Office of Management and Budget. Agencies that missed the deadline included the departments of Commerce, Defense and Veterans Affairs. Maucione reports the Energy Department sought to make its data more searchable in order to meet the deadline."
