Summary:

We launched the Open Access Button in November at the Berlin 11 Student and Early Stage Researcher Conference. To date there have been over 5000 paywalls mapped. What we have now is just a taste of what we are now building, and there is much more to come in Button 2.0. This survey is to help direct the future of Button 2.0. We want to be community centered and this survey will be the first of many opportunities in which the community can input and shape the Button they want to see in the future. You can find the survey embedded below and at bit.ly/buttonsurvey. The survey can be taken by any Open Access Button user and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please feel free to write as much as you would like for the responses. If you have any questions feel free to contact us at openaccessbutton@medsin.org. Deadlines for submissions to the survey is the 3rd March 2014 ... The Open Access Button is an online tool tracking instances of people being denied access to published research across the globe - it then displays this information on a map for the world to see. Our launch late last year was covered in the Guardian, Scientific American, several Open Access themed year in reviews, and more. You can view the map and download the button at openaccessbutton.org or find out more on our blog at blog.openaccessbutton.org.  Recently we have seen a successful launch of the Open Access Button Beta product and put together an international team of students to lead the project moving forward. In order to build and launch Open Access Button 2.0, we’re seeking input from a variety of stakeholders to shape the Button project’s future. This survey will form a key part of our consultation work and we encourage anyone interested in the Open Access Button to complete this. The survey is a short four pages to collect information on what you're working on, what you think we should be doing, and whether we could work together. It should take less than 15 minutes to complete, but the questions are flexible paragraph answers so you can provide us with as much detail as you like ..."
