Summary:

"The ASUW Student Senate passed two resolutions in their weekly meeting Tuesday: R-20-27: A Resolution in Support of Open Textbooks, and R-20-35: A Resolution in Support of House Bill 1669. R-20-27 encourages faculty and the administration to consider open textbooks when selecting course materials, as well as encouraging the Washington state legislature and representatives in Congress to support open textbooks as a solution to high textbook costs. R-20-35 supports the passages of HB 1669, which requires four-year public institutions of higher learning to give adequate notice when switching from state-supported programs to fee-funded programs ... The bill was recently passed from the Senate Committee on Higher Education and sent to the rules committee, and this resolution encourages the bill to be referred out of the rules committee before March 13th to be voted on before the legislative session ends.  The Board of Directors (BOD) approved both resolutions.  Organic Act 20-2: The Omnibus Bylaws and Rules Update Act of 2013 had its first readings and will have second readings upon being brought to discussion in the Student Senate again ..."
