Summary:

“The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) offers doctoral stipends to earlystage researchers of all disciplines, who want to develop research projects about the particular development of the Internet in interplay with societal dynamics, starting on September 1st. The Institute will promote innovative, transdisciplinary-orientated doctoral projects focusing on: [1] ‘Regulation and order from a social scientific perspective, particularly within the fields of copyright and big data’ [2] ‘Open science – science in transformation’ [3] ‘New concepts of data protection in the light of European proposals’ [4] ‘The current structural change of the public sphere and its legal consequences’ ... In addition to an attractive scholarship and a promotional programme within the context of the HIIG Research Kolleg, the chance of working in close co-operation with experienced researchers from different disciplines aiming at current research questions will be offered to all scholars. Thereby, the development of innovative perspectives and approaches will be nourished. The official application phase will start in April 2012. Requested application documents will include: [1] Short exposé on the research project [2] CV and certificates [3] Letter of motivation... International applications as well as applicants who already started their doctoral thesis are especially welcome. The complete call for applications, including all specifications and the appropriate time limits, will be published in April via the HIIG website and its social media channels. Please note that we cannot give any further information in advance and will not accept applications prior to this date. The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) is founded by the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, the University of Arts Berlin as well as by the Social Science Research Centre Berlin in alliance with the Hans-Bredow Institute Hamburg (HBI) as an integrated co-operation partner. The overall goal of the institute is to understand the dynamic interdependence between society and the Internet and thus, offering the opportunity to shape the digital, networked future open to everyone.”
